01 / MY APPROACH

Experience shapes the question.
Judgement shapes the outcome.

A practical approach informed by media production, technology, teaching and organisational research.

Use AI to explore possibilities. Keep the thinking yours: frame the problem, check the evidence and make a decision you can explain.

FROM A REAL QUESTION TO A REASONED DECISIONSELECT A STAGE TO EXPLORE
HUMAN JUDGEMENT THROUGHOUT
01 / START WITH CONTEXT

Define the problem before choosing the tool.

Clarify the audience, purpose and constraints. Identify what you already know, what you need to find out and what a useful result should achieve.

Reflect on the outcome, carry the learning forward and ask a better question.

01 / THE FUTURE SKILL

Critical thinking belongs in our preparation for 2030.

The OECD Learning Compass 2030 includes critical thinking, creative thinking, learning-to-learn and self-regulation among cognitive and meta-cognitive skills. Its framework emphasises agency and the responsible use of knowledge.

Work Smarter with AI.
Stay in Charge of the Thinking.

A practical two-hour workshop for the tasks you actually face: making sense of information, drafting useful work and deciding what to trust. Bring a non-confidential workplace or business task and practise a repeatable AI workflow.

FROM PROMPT TO A DEFENSIBLE RESULT

One task. Four practical skills.

  • Brief AI like a capable colleagueTurn a vague request into a clear brief with context, constraints and success criteria.
  • Turn information into a useful draftBuild a briefing note, professional explanation or action plan—then revise it for your audience.
  • Catch the confident mistakesCheck claims and references, expose assumptions and identify what still needs verification.
  • Make the final call yourselfCompare alternatives, explain your reasoning and decide what to accept, revise or reject.
Leave with a workflow you can reuse.

A clearer AI brief, a reviewed draft and a personal checklist for deciding when to trust, verify or work independently.

04 / MEET EDI HEZRI

Practical experience.
A curious mind.

I’m Edi Hezri Hairi—an educator, media practitioner and researcher based in Malaysia.

My work connects more than 18 years across media, technology, entrepreneurship and higher education. Having taught more than 5,000 students, I bring industry experience into learning that encourages practical application and independent judgement.

My core teaching focuses on television, broadcasting, media production and film, connecting creative practice with industry experience. Alongside these subjects, I actively share knowledge about generative AI with my students, exploring its effects on creativity, learning and media work, and encouraging thoughtful, responsible use.

I have sat on both sides of the conversation: industry and academia, student and lecturer. I understand the pressure to deliver in the workplace, the challenge of turning theory into practice, and the experience of learning something unfamiliar. Moving between these roles gives me a broad perspective on the skills industry demands, the support learners need, and where both professional practice and education can improve.

MY TEACHING & LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

Learn with curiosity.
Practise with purpose.
Think for yourself.

I believe learning should help people ask better questions, connect ideas to real situations and explain the reasoning behind their decisions. My role as a lecturer is to create opportunities to explore, practise, question and reflect—so learners build understanding they can apply independently.

Teaching and learning are a two-way exchange. I bring professional experience into the classroom, while students’ questions and perspectives challenge me to keep learning. As a doctoral student, I continue to experience that process myself.

AI belongs in this process as a tool for exploration and support. Learners still need to evaluate evidence, develop their own ideas and take responsibility for their work. The aim is to build capability and confidence that extend beyond any one tool.

I’ve held leadership roles at Paint In Motion Studio, FarSight Production, Media Prima and GosuGamers. The production businesses I co-founded delivered over 100 television commercial projects, generating RM5 million in combined production revenue between 2010 and 2016. Earlier roles at MDEC and Hewlett Packard Enterprise broadened my experience in industry capability development and enterprise technology.

My experience also includes community building with Cardano Malaysia, bringing people together to learn about emerging technology, exchange ideas and develop connections. As a community lead, I helped organise the 2022 Cardano Summit event in Kuala Lumpur and presented a proposal to support local outreach, education and collaboration. This work strengthened my approach to making technical ideas accessible and creating opportunities for shared learning.

I co-founded Paint In Motion Studio and FarSight Production from scratch, helping grow them into active players in the commercial production industry. My involvement spanned hands-on creative sales, pitching ideas and building client relationships. I assembled in-house teams of producers and editors and worked closely with external production teams to deliver projects from concept to completion. Building these businesses gave me practical experience in entrepreneurship, negotiation and balancing creative ambition with commercial realities.

At Media Prima, I led a 14-member multidisciplinary production team comprising producers, editors and floor managers, overseeing schedules, budgets, resources and staff development. At GosuGamers, I led a team of producers based in Malaysia and editors based in Indonesia and the Philippines, coordinating video production across creative, marketing and client teams.

My teaching experience includes INTI International University & Colleges, Taylor’s College and UOW Malaysia, covering Critical & Creative Thinking, entrepreneurship, digital media communication, and film and television production. I have also served as an external examiner and assessor for Taylor’s College, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Curtin University Malaysia.

I hold a Master’s in Mass Communication from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and a BA in Mass Communication from Curtin University.

I am pursuing a PhD at UiTM focusing on leadership communication, AI-supported decision-making and employee trust within organisational contexts. My research interests inform how I approach human accountability, communication and responsible AI adoption.

Through writing, teaching and the planned monthly webinars, I aim to make AI knowledge useful and accessible to students and professionals across public and private sectors.

05 / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your questions.
Clear answers.

Who are the webinars for?+

These webinars are for public- and private-sector professionals who prepare reports, proposals, presentations, communications and briefing notes; managers and team leaders who evaluate AI-supported recommendations; entrepreneurs and small-business owners who develop plans, content and customer communications; and educators, corporate trainers and learning-and-development practitioners who guide responsible AI use. They are especially useful if you already use AI but want to move beyond accepting its first answer. The focus is on everyday knowledge work: writing a clear brief, checking evidence, improving a draft, comparing options and explaining your final decision.

Do I need technical experience?+

No technical experience is required. You do not need to know how to code, build AI systems or write advanced prompts. The sessions explain key ideas in plain language and use guided demonstrations and practical examples. You will practise describing a task, improving a prompt and checking an AI response, with opportunities to ask questions. Basic familiarity with browsing the internet and typing is enough to get started. A laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection is recommended for following the exercises. Learning materials and notes will be provided so you can revisit the ideas and continue practising after the session. You may bring a non-confidential workplace or business task to make the learning relevant to you.

When will the webinars take place?+

Each webinar lasts two hours and is scheduled for the first Saturday of the month, with dates listed from November 2026 to October 2027. The 7 November and 5 December 2026 sessions are sold out. Each session is limited to 30 participants to allow better guidance, questions and a more personalised learning experience. Your webinar access link will be provided as soon as payment is confirmed. The start time in Malaysia Time (MYT) and meeting platform will be shared with the confirmed session details. Dates remain subject to holiday checks.

What does RM69 cover?+

RM69 per participant covers one two-hour webinar, the learning materials and notes, and a certificate of participation. The session combines practical demonstrations, guided exercises, insights and experience sharing, and opportunities to ask questions. The materials are yours to refer to afterwards as you apply the workflow to your work or business.

Does registering interest confirm my seat?+

No. This form records your interest in the selected session; it does not reserve a confirmed place. Sessions are limited to 30 participants. Your place is confirmed after payment confirmation, and your webinar access link will then be provided.

Will webinar registration subscribe me to the newsletter?+

No. Webinar registration and newsletter subscription are separate choices. Your webinar details are used for communications about your selected session, including access and learning information. If you would also like ongoing insights on critical thinking, practical AI skills and responsible use, subscribe through the newsletter form and give your consent there. You can attend a webinar without joining the newsletter, or subscribe without attending a webinar. To unsubscribe, use the contact details on the Privacy Disclaimer page.
